Ergonomics

While preparing for many presentations and seminars, I used to come across this term "Ergonomics". What is it ? This question haunted me like hell. Then I satisfied myself by coming up with a more self made general definition. Ergonomics has something to do with environmental dependency of any hardware or software.

I was living with this defination until I came across with the January issue of CHIP magazine. It had a supplement "The CHIP Guide to Stress Free computing".It defines ergonomics as follows

Ergonomics is the applied science of design intended to maximize productivity by reducing worker fatigue and discomfort. By applying the principles of ergonomics to the design of workplace tools such as mice and keyboards, Microsoft and other companies are able to make products more comfortable and worker-friendly,particularly during periods of extended use.
